August 31: More ways to work with your Ranksy data
More ways to work with your performance data
I expanded the API so you can bring the data behind your app's keywords, traffic, revenue, customer lifecycle, and listing performance into the workflows you already use.
- Explore keyword rankings and search visibility in more detail
- Review traffic journeys, installs, retention, churn, active trials, and customer value
- Compare your listing with competitors and find keywords where it is being outranked
Keep app data current
I added API controls for the work that changes over time, including tracking and untracking keywords, managing customer tags, and recording listing improvements.
Clearer reporting
I added trendlines and velocity to install and revenue charts, so it is easier to spot direction as well as the current number.
Better customer context
I made it easier to see a merchant's other apps from the same team and brought richer usage data into customer reporting.
Reliability improvements
I fixed issues that could interrupt analytics searches, customer actions, and reporting queries.
August 10: Charts inside ChatGPT and Claude, a sharper CRM, and encrypted credentials
Charts, right inside ChatGPT and Claude
Ask Ranksy about your rankings, revenue, churn, or traffic in ChatGPT or Claude and you'll get an actual chart back — not just a wall of numbers. Every report that can be charted now renders inline, with a one-tap switch to the underlying table or list whenever you want the raw rows.
Ask for subscriber cohorts and churn by plan
Your AI assistant can now pull per-subscriber activation and cancellation dates, filtered by plan and by month. Ask something like "which Growth accounts cancelled in July?" and get the named accounts and a month-by-month curve — not just a summary count.
A sharper CRM
- Search contacts by email
- Bulk-tag customers straight from a selection
- A "paying customers only" filter across your reports
- Faster customer search, automatic dev-store detection, and open any customer in a new tab with cmd/ctrl-click
Know the moment a store starts
Get an alert the instant a store signs up for your free plan — not only when they convert to paid — so you can reach out while interest is high.
More accurate revenue and churn
Squashed a batch of reporting bugs: usage-based revenue that could read as $0, churn and lost-MRR figures that were undercounting, and LTV that could drift. Install attribution is more precise too, so your traffic-to-install picture holds up.
August 5: One-click Slack and notes that remind you
Connect Slack in one click
Getting your alerts into Slack used to mean creating a webhook by hand and pasting a URL into Ranksy. Now there's an Add to Slack button: click it, pick a channel, done.
- Ranksy joins the channel you choose and starts posting right away: installs, reviews, subscriptions, trials, and your daily and weekly reports.
- Want the alerts somewhere else later? Change the channel from your notification settings without reconnecting.
- Every message shows your app's own name and logo, and store names link straight to that customer in Ranksy.
Already connected Slack through a webhook? Your existing setup keeps working as-is.
Notes that come back to you
Customer notes learned to follow up. Set a reminder date on any note and Ranksy emails you when it's due, so "check in after the trial ends" actually happens.
A title alone is now enough to save a note, which makes quick reminders painless: type "Ask about annual plan," pick a date, move on.
Customer notes in the API and your assistant
Notes aren't locked to the app anymore.
- The API now covers customer notes: list, create, update, and delete them with your API token. The API docs have the details.
- The Ranksy MCP server now covers notes too: your AI assistant could already search them, and now it can write them. Tell Claude "note that this store asked about migration help" and it lands on the right customer.
- You can point at a customer by store name or domain instead of digging up internal IDs.
Improvements
- Deleting a note now asks for confirmation in a proper dialog instead of a browser popup.
- Note edit and delete buttons are always visible on mobile instead of hiding behind a hover state.
- The API documentation site loads noticeably faster.
Bug fixes
- Customer status changes now record the exact time they happened, so lifecycle timelines stay accurate.
- I patched every outstanding security alert in the app's dependencies.
August 3: Customer notes, metrics that are fast and right, and a faster dashboard
Metrics that load fast and are actually right
We rebuilt how the dashboard loads your revenue data. Charts that used to wait on live API calls now read from a fast local copy that updates every hour. The numbers are the same — your MRR, LTV, churn, and trial counts did not change — but the page finishes painting before you can reach for your coffee.
Along the way we fixed every place where a dashboard number disagreed with the partner app it belonged to. Monthly LTV now matches the real per-customer lifetime value. Churn calculations use the same net-amount formula the rest of the app uses. Plan breakdowns pull from the right source table instead of a stale one. If you have ever looked at two numbers in Ranksy and wondered why they did not match, those gaps are closed.
Behind the scenes, we tightened the plumbing so the app spends less of your server doing math and more of it serving you. Background worker counts came way down, page sections skip work when you are not looking at them, and your dashboard renders about 30 times faster on first load.
New ways to read your revenue
The Revenue hub grew a set of reports that answer the questions the overview could not.
- Cohort Retention — install and subscription retention laid out as month-by-month matrices, so you can see how each month's merchants stick around. Group the cohorts by traffic source to compare where your best-retained installs come from.
- Transactions — a full, per-app transaction ledger under the Revenue hub, so you can trace the individual charges behind a number.
- Plans, Credits, and Discounts — three new tabs. See a live snapshot of who is on each plan, every credit and refund issued, and the discounts applied to your merchants. Credits and refunds are paginated, and every store name links straight to its customer page.
See how your churn behaves
The Churn page has a new time-to-churn chart — a distribution of how long merchants stay before they leave. A tall bar early means merchants are churning before they see value; a long tail means they stick around for months. It follows the date range and grouping you have set on the page.
Metered billing, everywhere it matters
If your app charges for usage, those dollars now flow through the whole system instead of sitting off to the side. Usage revenue is counted in MRR, net revenue retention, revenue churn, and lifetime value — so a usage-heavy app finally reads correctly across every report. Ranksy also watches usage against each merchant's cap and flags the ones approaching it, so you can reach out before they hit a wall.
Leave notes on any customer
Every customer page now has a Notes tab. Write down what you learned on a call, flag an onboarding issue, record a pricing conversation — whatever your team needs to remember about a merchant.
- Give each note a title and a body. Titles make it easy to scan later.
- Write in Markdown. A live preview shows you the formatting as you type.
- Every note shows who wrote it and when.
- Edit or delete notes anytime.
An Add Note button sits at the top of every customer detail page, next to the actions you already use. It opens a clean window with a full editor, no tab-switching required.
Your assistant can now search every note across every customer for a given app. Ask it to find stores with onboarding issues, customers who discussed pricing, or anyone flagged for follow-up. It returns the matching notes with the store name and a preview.
A sharper CRM
- Filter the customer list by Any Plan or No Plan, alongside the plan tiers you already had.
- Jump straight from a customer to their Shopify Partner dashboard with new deep-links on the detail page.
- Onboarding now shows a real task checklist instead of a vague progress bar, so a new merchant can see exactly what is left to do.
Notifications that look like your app
Slack and Google Chat alerts now carry each app's own name and logo, and link back to the store in your CRM — so a notification for one app no longer looks like it came from another. One connection still drives them all.
A smoother customer page
The customer page handles data that loads in later without breaking. No more white screen when something arrives out of order.
Fixed a bug where one customer's note could be edited through another customer's page.
Free-to-paid totals now agree across day, week, and month grouping.
July 27: Filter every revenue report by store, Meta conversion signals, and chart grouping
Filter any revenue report by the stores behind the numbers
Every revenue report and the customer list now share one Filters menu. Narrow a chart to the merchants you actually want to reason about — a plan tier, a country, Shopify Plus stores — and the whole page follows.
- Filter by plan, country, Shopify Plus, and development stores
- One Filters menu replaces the row of separate controls that used to sit above each report
- Applied filters appear as chips, each removable on its own, so it is always clear what you are looking at
- Save any combination as a named view, and set one as the view a page opens with
- Available on Revenue overview, Earnings, Subscriptions, Usage, Churn, NRR, Trials, Installations, LTV, and the customer list
- Filtering the customer list also filters the CSV you export, so the file matches what you were looking at
Store details arrive through /identify. The more your app sends, the more of your merchants you can slice by — merchants Ranksy has no plan or country for are not counted in a filtered view.
Send install and revenue signals straight to Meta
Ranksy now feeds your ad platform the conversions it never sees. Pick which events matter for each app, and Ranksy sends them server-side with merchant identity attached, so your campaigns optimize against real installs and real revenue instead of guesswork.
- Choose the Meta standard event each signal maps to: installs can report as CompleteRegistration or Lead, revenue as Purchase, Subscribe, or StartTrial
- Toggle install and revenue signals on or off per app, from that app's settings
- Attribution no longer depends on a click ID surviving the whole journey, so conversions still match when the merchant arrives without one
A new endpoint for merchant identity and session signals
Your app can now post the identity and session data it already collects to POST /api/v1/apps/{app}/capi. Ranksy stores it against the shop and folds it into the match keys sent with every conversion, which lifts your match quality without you touching a pixel.
The /identify endpoint also got more forgiving: it accepts either an access token or shop data you supply directly, and it stores shop-admin details per installation instead of collapsing them onto the shop.
Group by day, week, or month, right in the date picker
Grouping now lives inside the date filter itself, on its own row under the presets. Pick your range, pick your grain, and every chart on the page follows.
- Day, week, and month grouping on dashboard, installations, churn, traffic, and subscriptions charts
- Weeks start on the first day of your selected range rather than the Monday before it — pick June 3 to June 30 and the first bar starts on June 3, so you are never shown days you did not ask for
- A short final week is labelled as partial, so a shorter last bar reads as the end of your range rather than a drop
- Week labels name the span they cover instead of a single date
- Comparing against the previous period lines the weeks up, so each week is measured against one the same length
- Tooltips and axis labels reformat to match the grain you picked, so weekly and monthly points read correctly
- Weekly and monthly figures cover the whole period, so a month bar is the month's total rather than a single day's
- Totals, running balances, and rates each aggregate the way they should — a subscriber count is not summed across the weeks, and a churn rate is the rate for the period rather than an average of daily rates
- Grouping also reaches the API and your AI assistant, so
group_byworks on the installations endpoint in API v2 and in the MCP tool, and an unrecognised value now comes back with a clear message naming the ones that work
Day and month grouping keep calendar boundaries — a month is still a calendar month.
Filter your update timeline by what changed
The app updates timeline can now be narrowed to the kind of change you care about. Track pricing plan changes on a competitor without wading through every ranking move and review batch.
- Filter across 22 update types, including pricing plans, listing details, images, ranking moves, and Built for Shopify status
A better CRM
The customer list learned to work with the review purge, and a few long-standing annoyances are gone.
- Filter customers down to those whose reviews were purged
- Export Purged Reviews pulls a CSV of the removed review text for the selected app, with store, country, rating, date, usage duration, the full review body, and any reply you left
- The review widget on a customer's page now labels each review as purged or active
- The last-seen filter works again, and last-seen dates display properly
- Customer details still save when a store's access token has expired, so an expired token no longer costs you the record
- Contacts sent through
/identifynow match on email regardless of casing, instead of creating a duplicate
Your AI assistant respects your permissions
The MCP tools are now held to the same rules as the app.
- Revenue figures are stripped from tool responses for teammates without revenue permission, across installs, subscriptions, transactions, churn, churned customers, lifecycle events, customer LTV, active trials, uninstall reasons, attribution, and the revenue overview
- A slow query now returns a clean error instead of failing hard partway through a response
Revenue stays behind revenue permissions
If a teammate does not have permission to see revenue, they no longer see dollar figures anywhere. Amounts are now stripped on the server before the page is built, across attribution, traffic, ads, trials, subscriptions, and goals.
- Average revenue per customer now calculates correctly
- Revenue-based goals are only available to people who can see revenue
- The signal brief no longer surfaces revenue to people who cannot see it
Improvements
- Free to Paid now has its own monthly chart on the Subscriptions tab, and merchants who subscribe directly count as conversions alongside those who trial first
- Faster churn and subscription analytics, faster keyword pages, and dashboard widgets that load in parallel instead of one after another
- Pages no longer end flush against the bottom of the window
Bug fixes
- Weekly and monthly charts label their axis with real dates instead of "Invalid Date"
- Charts grouped by week no longer label a bucket with dates from outside the range you selected
- Chart tooltips and axis labels now agree on which period a point belongs to when grouping by week or month
- Traffic charts plot correctly when grouped by month, which is the default view
- Rolling churn tooltips show the counts and lost revenue behind the rate at every grain, instead of zeroes
- Accepting an invitation now lands you in the team you were invited to
- Support conversations follow you across devices instead of starting over on each one
- Fixed a 500 error when browsing apps
- Proration gaps no longer create phantom trials, and trials that convert through a plan replacement no longer sit stuck in pending
- Fixed a queue setting that could freeze data syncs for large apps
July 19: Review-purge alerts, usage-charge revenue, and keyword attribution
Know the moment Shopify purges your reviews
Shopify has been removing large batches of app reviews. Ranksy now catches it for you. When reviews disappear from an app you track, we flag them, record the date each one was purged, and alert you so you're not the last to find out.
- Purged reviews now appear as clear drops on your review timeline
- Every affected review card shows the exact date it was removed
- You get notified the moment a purge hits an app you own
Hit by the purge? There's now a free export tool that pulls the full text of your removed reviews, so you have a complete record to appeal with.
Your real revenue, with usage charges included
Revenue was never just subscriptions. Ranksy now pulls in usage-based charges so your numbers line up with what Shopify actually bills.
- A new Usage events tab on every app, plus a queryable API for the raw events
- ARPA is now measured across paying stores, so it reflects true per-store value
- The Subscriptions tab shows Free → Paid conversion at a glance
- A new dashboard funnel tracks Free → Trial → Paid alongside a monthly conversion KPI
See which keywords and categories drive installs
- New install attribution broken down by keyword and category
- Channel drilldowns now resolve correctly against your GA4 data
Permissions, page by page
Assign team access one page at a time instead of a single broad role, so each teammate sees exactly what they should and nothing more.
Fixes and polish
- App search no longer errors out, and you can now filter by rating, review count, and Built for Shopify status
- Repaired the column sorting on the developers page
- A store's first install now counts as a new install instead of a reinstall
July 15: Google Chat alerts, richer notifications, and clearer churn reasons
Get alerts in Google Chat
Ranksy now posts notifications to Google Chat, right alongside Slack. Install spikes, new reviews, revenue milestones, and churn alerts land in the space your team already watches. Set it up per app from the Notifications page.
- New Google Chat integration with per-app configuration
- Manage Slack and Google Chat side by side from one place
A rebuilt Notifications hub
Notifications are now organized around your channels, so it's obvious what's going where. Slack and Google Chat each get their own tab per app, and Slack messages carry a lot more detail.
- Channel-first hub with per-app Slack and Google Chat settings
- Richer Slack alerts showing revenue amounts, metric changes, and the reason behind each uninstall
- App icons in Slack messages for faster scanning
Understand why merchants leave
Uninstall reasons are now sorted into one consistent set of categories across every app, including survey responses left in another language. When a merchant adds a note, you see it in their own words.
- Consistent uninstall-reason categories, with 89 localized survey options mapped to a single taxonomy
- Merchant free-text feedback on the customer timeline and in notifications
- Reason breakdowns reported as a share of uninstalls, now including scheduled cancellations
Manage the competitors you track
The Competitors area has a new Manage tab for curating who you follow.
- Follow a new app straight from a search box
- Unfollow apps directly in the table
Know the people behind every shop
A new Contacts view brings the people behind your merchants into Ranksy. See who's connected to each shop and when they were last active, then sort and filter the list to find exactly who you need.
- Contacts table with last-seen activity, sorting, and filtering
- New identify and track API endpoints for sending Ranksy your own contacts and activity events
- Per-shop customer API endpoints, plus matching tools for querying it all from an AI assistant
Improvements
- More accurate revenue: annual plans are now normalized to a monthly value in MRR
- Faster dashboard and discovery pages
Bug fixes
- Fixed a 500 error when re-inviting a teammate with an expired or duplicate invitation
- Fixed out-of-memory errors on the keyword-generation and large-app churn pages
- Fixed a 500 error on the customer page and cleaned up how multiple uninstall reasons are listed
- Improved trial detection so throwaway plan-switch trials and phantom trials no longer show up
Customer tags, pinnable navigation, and clearer billing
Organize your customers with tags
Tag customers the way you actually think about them — by plan, cohort, or risk — then filter both your customer list and your revenue analytics by those tags. Your tags work across the app and through the API.
Make the sidebar yours
Pin the pages you visit most and they'll sit right under Dashboard, with everything else tucked into a "More" section you can open when you need it. Hover any item to pin or unpin it, and your pins stay put for your account.
No more tracking limits
Every plan now includes unlimited keyword tracking and app follows — track as many keywords and follow as many apps as you need.
Clearer customer billing
- A new "Charge pending" state marks customers who've converted but haven't been billed yet, so a converted merchant never looks unpaid
- Customer records now show the correct upcoming billing date instead of a stale one
- On multi-app teams, a customer's detail page now shows the subscription for the app you're viewing
Fixes
- Fixed a naming collision between tracked keywords
- Security hardening around account settings
Search Pulse, rank-change explanations, and the keyword rank race
Search Pulse: know when Shopify shakes the rankings
When your ranks move, the first question is: did I change something, or did Shopify? Search Pulse watches ranking volatility across the entire App Store every day and tells you when a search-algorithm update is rolling out — so you don't spend a day second-guessing your listing when the ground moved for everyone.
- A daily algorithm "weather report" showing calm days, tremors, and full shake-ups
- The "Is it you or Shopify?" panel now checks your own tracked keywords directly
- A dashboard widget keeps the current signal one glance away
Every rank change now explains itself
Tracked keywords no longer just show that your rank moved — they show why. Open the change on any tracked keyword for an evidence-first breakdown:
- See which competitors passed you or fell behind — including the exact listing edits they made
- Keywords you just added are labeled as new, so a fresh keyword never reads as a mysterious drop
- Competitor comparison now covers the full top 120 positions, and the panel loads reliably every time
Watch the rank race
The keyword explorer has a new animated rank race: replay how the top apps for a keyword traded places day by day. Great for spotting who's climbing before they reach you — and it's fast, even on long time ranges.
Revenue analytics, sharpened
- Count trials in revenue — a per-app toggle that now also applies to headline MRR and LTV, so trialing merchants show up (or not) consistently everywhere
- Filter Subscriptions by plan — the plan dropdown lists every plan on your app, not just those in the selected range
- One less page to check — the Customers page is gone; its content lives in Subscriptions and LTV where you actually use it
- Cleaner cancellations — charges that never activated no longer appear in the Cancellations list
Improvements & fixes
- The onboarding hub on the dashboard can now be dismissed
- Fixed traffic funnel install, trial, and paid counts collapsing to zero for some date ranges
- Fixed an error when re-following an app you already follow on another team
- Faster keyword explorer and leaner background data processing across the board
Customizable dashboards, traffic-source insights, and a much faster Ranksy
Build your dashboard, your way
Your dashboard's stat cards are now fully customizable. Hit Customize, click Add widget on any cell, and pick from the new Stats group — then drag stats wherever you want them. We also added six new stats to choose from: Installs, Uninstalls, Installs Today, New Trials, New Trials Today, and Trial Conversion Rate. Stats only appear when they're relevant to your app, and dashboards you've already arranged stay exactly as they are.
See revenue by traffic source
Every revenue and analytics view — MRR, active merchants, churn, LTV, and NRR — can now be filtered by traffic source, so you can see how much revenue each channel actually drives. The numbers stay cohort-consistent however you slice them.
A much faster Ranksy
We made a deep performance pass across the whole analytics suite. The Revenue, Installations, Customers, Trials, Churn, NRR, and LTV pages now load noticeably faster, stream their charts in progressively, and no longer time out on larger apps. Many of the underlying metrics were rebuilt to compute live — so your numbers are fresher and quicker.
Fixes & polish
- Reworked the dashboard builder's edit mode — no more overflowing widgets, overlapping controls, or blank tiles.
- The widget picker now keeps your search visible while you filter and no longer cuts off the list.
- Churn-by-plan and NRR now respect your selected date range and anchor cohorts correctly, and Active Merchants is counted consistently across every page.
- Adding an app to your team is now a clean, step-by-step flow.
- Broader support for a few older browser versions.
Discover the App Store, hub-based navigation, and sharper metrics
Discover the whole Shopify App Store
Ranksy now shows you the entire App Store — not just your slice of it. The new Discover area is public and shareable, with no login needed to browse.
- New apps this week — every app listed in the last 7 days, newest first
- New Built for Shopify apps — the latest apps to clear Shopify's highest quality bar
- New apps by category — jump straight to the fresh launches in any category
- Category & keyword rankings — see who ranks where across the store
A weekly App Store Index, in your inbox
Subscribe with just an email — no account required — and get a Friday digest: how many apps launched that week, which ones earned Built for Shopify, and the categories with the most new launches. Choose the full index, Built for Shopify only, or just the categories you care about.
A workspace organized around hubs
We reorganized the entire sidebar so everything lives where you'd expect. Pages are now split into Your App and Market zones, with related views grouped into clickable, expandable hubs instead of one long list.
- Revenue hub brings MRR, churn, subscriptions, and trials together — and the Overview grid is now a click-through launchpad straight into each metric.
- App Store hub consolidates your listing, rankings, and search analytics, with tracked keywords folded in as a Targets view.
- Traffic hub unifies every traffic page, folds in App Store Ads, and adds an Organic vs Paid view so paid and organic keywords sit side by side.
- Competitors is now a top-level hub of its own, gathering your scorecard, competitor intelligence, activity, and copycat tracking in one place.
More accurate revenue & churn numbers
We tracked down several places where charts could drift from reality:
- MRR History no longer over-counts shops that had already uninstalled or deactivated.
- Total Active Merchants now reads the correct historical figure instead of a back-projected estimate.
- Subscription status is reconciled against each shop's real install state, so frozen and closed shops are handled correctly.
- Churn is now sourced from one canonical ledger everywhere it appears, and paid churn is no longer misclassified as a trial cancellation.
- Comped accounts now correctly report $0 MRR.
Trials: clearer cohorts and a plan filter
- Filter your trial analytics by plan to see velocity and conversion for each tier.
- Conversion is now derived from the real cancel/freeze signal, so already-converted subscriptions no longer show phantom trial starts — and weeks that are still maturing show an honest, clearly-labeled rate.
- Fixed the Trials page disappearing for single-app teams.
A faster dashboard
Your dashboard now paints its core view immediately and streams the heavier metric cards in a moment later — so you're looking at your numbers right away instead of waiting on a spinner. We also cleared the slow loads some larger accounts were running into.
Help, right where you need it
- New in-app tooltips and Learn more links connect features to step-by-step help-center articles.
Improvements
- More accurate category rankings, on faster-loading category pages.
- The Attribution report no longer times out for high-traffic apps.
- A round of reliability fixes across reporting and notifications.
For API & MCP users
- Metric endpoints and tools now honor optional
include_test,plan,billing_interval, andinstall_statusfilters. Omitting them keeps every response byte-identical to before — see the API release notes for details.
Acquisition accuracy and activation improvements
Highlights
- Improved acquisition reporting with source and medium session attribution, fallback timestamp stitching, revenue attribution by source, first-touch install attribution, and paginated acquisition tables.
- Corrected dashboard and cohort metrics, including trial classification, pending cancellations, plan upgrades, duplicate cohort rows, and per-app daily computation windows.
- Added goal-driven activation and onboarding experiences with persona-aware flows, activation guidance, completion celebrations, and historical funnel analytics.
- Improved account and integration reliability, including account deletion, server-side PostHog delivery, attribution recovery, and build consistency.
- Extended MCP subscription data with Shopify shop domains and shop identifiers.
June 8: A Dashboard That Adapts, Numbers That Agree Everywhere & Sharper Trials
Your dashboard adapts to what you've connected
Your default dashboard now changes based on which integrations are live. Tracking a listing puts rankings and search front and centre. Connect the Partner API and revenue, MRR, and churn move to the top. Add BigQuery and the full traffic and attribution picture opens up — with no manual configuring on your part.
- A "next step" card shows exactly what you unlock by connecting the next integration, with a preview of the metrics waiting on the other side.
- Onboarding now branches on your goal, so the setup steps you see are the ones that actually get you there.
- An activation bar follows you across pages, so finishing setup is always one click away — and every step you complete gets a small moment of celebration.
Numbers that agree, everywhere you look
We did a top-to-bottom pass so every metric on your dashboard reads from the same source as its dedicated page. MRR, churn, LTV, conversion rate, ARPA, and search volume now match wherever you see them — no more "the dashboard says one thing, the page says another."
- Conversion rate is now measured against listing pageviews instead of sessions, so it reflects how your store listing actually converts.
- LTV is net of fees and capped to a realistic 60-month horizon, so it stays grounded.
- Review counts exclude archived reviews, and net installs update in real time.
Sharper trials, cohorts, and attribution
- First-touch attribution. Every install is now credited to the true first touch — the channel, surface, and keyword that first brought a merchant to your listing — so your acquisition picture reflects what actually started each journey.
- More accurate trials. Mid-trial plan upgrades no longer leave a trial stuck "pending," and a trial that converts and cancels the same day is now counted correctly.
- Cleaner cohorts. Cohort customer lists no longer double-count a shop that appears more than once.
Fixes
- Account deletion now works reliably, even on accounts with historical ad-report data attached.
- Retired the old "app snapshot" panel — its job is now handled by the adaptive dashboard above.
- Fixed a rendering error some accounts hit when reaching their app limit.
June 5: Install Counts You Can Trust, Customer Journeys & Ranksy in Your Browser
Install counts you can trust
Your install numbers now come straight from Shopify, so they match your Partner Dashboard. Google Analytics still shows you where installs came from — but the count itself is Shopify's. No more wondering which number is the real one.
See how every customer found you
Open any customer and you'll see their story: the search term and the channel that brought them in, laid out as a simple timeline. Connect a paying merchant back to the campaign that won them.
Ranksy, right in your browser
Our browser extension now shows your own app numbers while you're on the App Store. Sign in once and get:
- Active merchants, installs, MRR, revenue, and pageviews — each with its 7-day change
- A quick switch between your apps and teams
- One click to open the full report in Ranksy
Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store.
A faster ⌘K
The command palette is quicker and smarter:
- Jump anywhere, matching your sidebar exactly
- Switch apps without leaving it
- A bigger, cleaner window
Customers page, tidied up
- "All" now works together with plan filters
- Filter by who's on a plan today, or who's ever been on one
- Hide test stores so they don't skew your numbers
Everything's faster
We chased down the slow spots — pages now load in under a second, and your public app pages got a big speed boost.
For API users
- Endpoints now flag missing data, so you won't mistake a gap for a drop
- Simpler metric endpoints and a new single-date option
- New
rk_live_API keys with full-access support and a copy-once screen
Little things
- Date ranges now default to the last 7 days, including today
- Fixed an empty acquisition drill-down when the channel was "direct" or the source was "(not set)"
June 1: Churn Your Way, Plan-Level Revenue & Sharper Numbers
Churn, your way
Churn isn't one number — so we stopped showing it like one. The Churn page now lets you switch between 7-day, 30-day, 90-day, and 365-day rolling windows, and every chart, summary card, and plan breakdown moves with you.
- Pick the window that matches how you think about retention — weekly pulse or annual trend
- Both logo churn (merchants lost) and revenue churn update per window
- See churn broken down by plan so you know exactly where you're leaking
We also tightened what "churn" actually counts: only genuine losses — uninstalls, shop deactivations, and downgrades to free — from your paying base. Upgrades, paid downgrades, and trials no longer inflate the number, so your churn rate finally reflects reality.
Revenue and subscriptions, plan by plan
Your Total Paying Subscriptions and MRR History charts now draw a separate line for each plan, with the total stacked on top.
- Instantly see which plans are growing and which are stalling
- Spot a plan-level MRR dip before it shows up in the headline number
Link reviews to the customers behind them
You can now manually connect a review to the customer who left it — in both directions — and relink or unlink any time. Close the loop between feedback and the account it came from.
Sharper, more accurate numbers
We fixed two data issues that were quietly skewing historical metrics:
- Active merchant counts were undercounting your real base — in some cases by nearly half. They now reflect the true active count across your full history.
- Installs, uninstalls, and reactivations were being double-counted in some fleets. Each event is now counted exactly once, so your install and churn trends are clean.
Ranksy API & AI assistant
- Rolling churn windows (7d/30d/90d/365d) are now available on the v1 API and through the MCP / AI assistant
- Lifetime value is computed live for fresher numbers
- The API, AI assistant, and dashboard now share the same definitions end to end — churn, subscriptions, attribution, and traffic all match wherever you look
May 31: A Smarter Customers Hub, Winback & the Ranksy API
A smarter Customers hub
The Customers page got a top-to-bottom rework so you can actually read your base at a glance.
- LTV, plan, and status on every row — sort and filter by any of them
- Per-customer timeline — a merchant's full lifecycle in order: install, trial, conversion, plan changes, and cancellation
- Accurate next-billing dates — derived from real transactions, instead of showing the first-charge date in the past
Catch merchants before they're gone
When a merchant cancels, they usually stay installed until the end of their current billing cycle — and that window is your best shot at saving them.
- A "cancelled, still installed" widget on the Churn page shows exactly who's leaving and when their access actually ends
- A winback filter on Customers so you can work that list directly
- Keyed on Shopify's real cancel-at-end-of-cycle signal and billing-cycle end time, so the cohort is precise — not a guess
Reviews, now tied to customers
App Store reviews are linked to the merchant who wrote them.
- A review badge on customers who've left one, a filter to find them, and the review itself on the customer detail
- Kept current automatically from the review sync, with a notification when a customer reviews you
- Fix a mismatch in a click — link any review to the right customer from the reviews list, attach a review straight from a customer's page, or relink/unlink when the automatic match gets it wrong
The Ranksy API
You can now pull your Ranksy data programmatically.
- A REST API covering your metrics (MRR, installs, churn, LTV, NRR, trial conversion and more), traffic & keywords, rankings, reviews, and the app catalog
- Self-serve API keys — issue and revoke live/test keys right from your settings
- A full, always-current reference at api.ranksyapp.com
Deeper Partner history
Ranksy used to only see merchant activity from the moment you connected your Partner account. We now ingest Shopify's org-level historical events feed, so relationships that started — and ended — before you connected finally show up.
- Pre-connection merchants recovered — installs, uninstalls, and trial activity for shops that churned before you started using Ranksy now appear in your timeline and churn history
- Up to ~12 months of backfilled history, materialized into the same tables as your live data so old and new events read identically everywhere
Under the hood
- Faster, steadier Partner sync — per-shop writes are now batched, so large syncs ingest faster and no longer stall partway through
- Self-healing metrics — a nightly reconciliation keeps your dashboard and the API reporting the same numbers
- A round of reliability fixes across data ingestion and the listing scraper, so fewer syncs need a retry
May 27: Instant-Value Onboarding + the Acquisition Dashboard
A First Run That Proves the Point
New accounts used to land on empty dashboards. Now the first session leads with a working Competitive Scorecard and a short list of things worth doing — so the value shows up before you've connected anything.
- Intent-aware onboarding — a quick intent step tailors the new dashboard welcome panel to what you came to do
- Competitive Scorecard front and center — the welcome panel opens with a mini scorecard, with a provisional read from similar/category apps when you haven't followed anything yet
- Quick wins that are actually relevant — candidate keywords are ranked by 1536-dimension embedding cosine similarity between your app and each keyword, with a lexical fallback, so the suggestions are on-theme from the first load
- Scorecard dimensions are actionable, not vanity — every number carries the gap and the fix behind it, not just a rank or a raw score
- Rank headline and movers are filtered to the relevant, competitive keywords that matter to your listing, instead of every term you happen to touch
- Tracked keywords now carry priority weighting in the scorecard, so the watchlist you curate drives the score
- Wizard app-description limit raised to 10,000 characters to match the backend
Know Exactly Where Installs Come From
The acquisition reporting has been rebuilt into a GA4-style dashboard with a data-driven classifier — so traffic and installs land in the right channel instead of defaulting to "direct."
- New GA4-style Acquisition Dashboard with channel trends, source breakdowns, and chronologically-sorted series
- Data-driven traffic-source classification replaces the old hardcoded waterfall, so paid clicks stop leaking into direct/social
- Drill-down detail pages — click any acquisition row to see sessions and install sub-attribution for that source
- Shopify-native dimensions — slice by placement, entry point, and source, with placement pills surfaced on the overview
- New AI Assistant channel — referrals from AI assistants are classified into their own category instead of getting lost in direct
- All channels now show in the trend, tabs are URL-synced, and the visual pass tightened density and chart consistency across the page
From Pageview to Install on Every Tracked Keyword
- Tracked Keywords now shows the full pageview → install funnel, so you can see where interest in a term converts and where it leaks
Numbers You Can Trust
A pass on the metrics that were quietly overcounting — so churn, active merchants, and install counts reflect reality.
- Honest churn — the summary, plan breakdown, and charts now count only real churn (uninstalls, deactivations, paid downgrades), excluding upgrades, trials, and unclassified rows that previously inflated Lost MRR
- Active Merchants is period-aware in compare mode — fixing the spurious –0.0% comparisons
- MCP installation counts now match the partner dashboard exactly
Sharper Keyword Extraction
- Keyword Extractor v2 — a better prompt and automatic refresh produce cleaner, more usable keywords from your listing
Under the Hood
- Partner API auth failures now fail fast — a 401/403 no longer retries in a storm, and a failed sync no longer kicks off a re-sync loop
- Transient connection failures to OpenAI and the scraper are retried instead of surfacing as errors
- MCP rate-limit ceilings raised to stop spurious 429s
- Removed the AI Overview feature, which was regenerating the full catalog on a blind timer for ~$30/day with no offsetting value
- The LTV widget no longer runs full analytics on every dashboard load, and a runaway review re-embedding loop was stopped
- API validation errors (422s) are now captured to Sentry with corrected date-range caps, plus boot-fatal de-masking and an orphaned schedule cleanup
- Routine Composer and npm dependency updates, including api-docs security fixes
May 18: Smarter Suggestions, Public Pulse
Smarter Keyword Suggestions
The Suggester now ranks every candidate keyword by a composite of ranking opportunity, demand trend, and semantic relevance to your app — and brand terms no longer crowd out the good ideas.
- Composite score blends rank potential, install velocity, and topical fit, with badges that show why each keyword surfaced
- Relevance is now driven by a 1536-dimension vector cosine match between your app and each keyword, replacing the old keyword-overlap heuristic
- Brand and competitor terms are automatically downweighted so they stop dominating the top of the list
- New keywords flow through embeddings and classification on the same sync that adds them, so fresh suggestions are usable within minutes
- Dismiss with undo — hide a keyword you don't want to see again, and the Suggester will skip it on future runs
Tracked Keywords, Finished
The Tracked Keywords list is now a real working surface, with the controls you'd expect for a watchlist you actually use day-to-day.
- Per-app quotas with a Suggested sheet so you always know what's available to track next
- Movers filter, bulk untrack, and CSV export built into the list header
- One-click Track / Untrack on every keyword surface in the app — not just the index pages
- Inline row actions no longer scroll-jump the page on click
- Bulk-untrack and impression-save flows that used to blank out with an Inertia error now respond cleanly
Connect Without the Guesswork
Setting up the Partner API integration is the single highest-stakes moment in the product — so we rebuilt it to fail loudly and recover gracefully.
- Test-before-Save on the Connect flow — verify the credentials work before they're written to your account
- Partner API errors now return an actionable message ("token missing read_app_events scope") instead of a generic 500
- Dashboard widgets that depend on the integration render with a "Connect to unlock" overlay instead of empty cards, so you can see what you're missing
Pulse Goes Public
The Pulse discovery surface — Shopify app trends, category leaderboards, keyword movers — is now a public page at /pulse, with a search bar and browse sections that link deep into the discover index.
- New public /pulse landing page with search + browse
- Homepage rebuilt around a bento feature grid covering the API, MCP server, and Pulse data
/discovernow redirects into the new structure
Tracking That Actually Matches
Every product event now fires to PostHog and Customer.io through a single Tracker service, so the numbers in both tools finally agree.
- Unified Tracker service sends one payload to PostHog and Customer.io in lockstep
- Server-side activation funnel instrumentation on PostHog — accurate even when ad-blockers eat the client SDK
last_login_atupdates on every authenticated request, replacing the old once-per-session estimate
Under the Hood
- Followed apps refresh hourly, owned apps every 5 minutes — tiered scraper schedules cut cron load without sacrificing freshness
- Batch pipeline is now resilient end-to-end: 5K-request cap, 30-minute download timeout, auto-expire for stale orphans, and mid-stream rollovers correctly fire
onBatchCreated - AI suggestions moved to the OpenAI flex tier for a cost drop with no quality change
- New V2 keyword embedding batch check command + scheduled classification orchestrator
- MCP OAuth discovery and DCR endpoints now pass CORS preflight
- Organic / ads / all sponsorship filter on the keyword detail and app keyword pages
May 11: Set Goals, Track Anything
Track Goals Across Any Metric
Set targets for the metrics that matter most — installs, MRR, rankings, reviews, and more — and watch your progress in one place.
- Create goals against any tracked metric or subject
- See partial progress per target on the goal bar
- Schedule follow-ups, edit, and archive goals as priorities shift
- Get notified when goals are hit or fall behind
- Add new items to existing goals from anywhere in the app
Tracked Keywords, Now Sharper
Tracking keywords just got a lot more useful. Every keyword surface now has a one-click Track button, and the tracked keywords list gives you the at-a-glance signals you actually need.
- One-click Track button across every keyword surface
- New 24h change and 14d installs columns on tracked keywords
- Per-row history modal — see how a keyword has moved over time
- Live toast notification when a keyword scrape finishes
- Auto-refresh the keyword page the moment its data arrives
- Tracked keywords list paginated to 20 per page for faster loads
Revenue Filter on Customers
The customer MRR filter has been replaced with a total revenue filter — a more accurate way to slice your merchant base by lifetime value.
Shopify Ads CSV Upload
A new API endpoint lets you upload Shopify Ads CSV exports and pull the parsed data back, opening the door to deeper paid-acquisition analysis.
Smarter Analytics Charts
Every line and area chart now uses a dynamic Y-axis that starts at your data's minimum value, making small changes far easier to spot. Compare data also sticks around when you toggle test data on merchant growth and installations charts.
Improvements
- Annual and yearly subscriptions now normalize correctly to MRR everywhere
- Long keywords no longer overflow the /keywords table — fully responsive on small screens
- Tracking a single keyword now redirects you straight to its show page
- Add-keywords dialog uses Inertia forms — pressing Enter to track works again
- Keyword session attribution now uses 14-day last-touch for cleaner install numbers
Bug Fixes
- Fixed revenue filter so it queries the correct transactions table
- Fixed missing team-app context in customer index causing edge-case errors
- Fixed Recharts extending the Y-axis domain to invisible annotation lines
- Fixed Track button on the keyword sessions table to reflect real status
- Fixed goals view so the Metric + Subject columns collapse into one clean self-describing column
May 3: Track Anything, See Trends
A new home for the keywords you care about
Tracked Keywords is now its own top-level page — no more digging through the analytics sidebar. Every keyword you're following for the current app sits in one place, with latest rank, 7-day change, and a 14-day sparkline so you can see the trajectory at a glance. Click any keyword to drill into the full ranking history.
Track from anywhere
A Track button now sits next to every keyword on the App Store pages — both the keyword index and individual keyword detail pages. One click adds it to your watchlist for the current app. If you have multiple apps, a quick selector asks which one.
For bulk additions, the "Add new keyword" button on the keywords index opens a dialog that handles three modes:
- A single keyword
- Paste a list (newline or comma separated, up to 1,000 at a time)
- Drop in a CSV
New keywords are queued for an immediate scrape, so rankings show up without waiting for tomorrow's daily run.
Auto-discovered install drivers
Connect BigQuery and we scan your install attribution daily. Keywords driving real installs get tracked automatically, with a bell notification when new ones land. Threshold is configurable; default is one install in the last seven days.
Suggestions for what to track next
The Tracked Keywords page surfaces a "Suggested to track" card with keywords your app already organically ranks for in the top 50 but isn't following yet. One click each to add them. Most useful for new users who don't yet know what to track — but it doubles as a discovery tool for anyone.
App Settings, redesigned
The per-app settings page has been split into proper tabs — App Info, Partner API, Google Analytics, BigQuery, Danger — each with a status badge so you can see at a glance what's connected. Deep-links open the right tab directly, so links from the Getting Started panel land you exactly where you need to act.
Email when your data lands
Initial sync (Partner API and BigQuery) used to leave you staring at an empty dashboard for 5–10 minutes hoping the data showed up. Now you get a transactional email the moment it does, with a quick summary of what got imported and a link back. Fires once per integration per app — no spam on subsequent syncs.
Getting Started panel
A persistent activation panel anchored in the sidebar footer. Five milestones — Connect Partner API, Connect BigQuery, Improve your listing, Follow 3 competitors, Turn on the weekly digest — each with a guided tour, "Finish All" chaining, and a celebration when everything's ticked.
Status is computed live from your account state, so it stays correct after team changes, regressions, or revoked integrations.
Fixes & polish
- Tracking a keyword stored in mixed case ("Ultimate Geo Blocker") no longer fails on the slug uniqueness check.
- Keyword filter chips on the analytics page simplified — manual and auto-discovered now treated identically. Filter by Tracked / Branded / High volume / Zero-click.
- Sparkline directions invert correctly — improving rank renders as a peak, matching how you'd think about it.
April 30: Compare Mode Everywhere + Honest Churn
Compare mode, on every chart
Every trend chart — Traffic, Subscriptions, Churn, NRR, LTV, Trials, Earnings, Search, Category, Partner Metrics — now lets you overlay a prior period to see what changed. The compare window slides automatically when you change the main date range.
Churn, end-to-end
- Row-by-row ledger showing exactly which shops drove each tick of the churn rate.
- Customer churn + Revenue churn together, so high-value losses don't hide behind flat headcount.
- Cohort-correct rate using each cancellation's actual outcome — downgrade, deactivate, purge — instead of lumping everything together.
- Churn rate cards now react to date-range changes.
Subscription Velocity, redesigned
A diverging bar stack — gains above zero, losses below, sharing one column. Add a 7-day trailing trendline and a net-delta summary in the card header, and the trajectory is visible without scanning every bar.
Sharper traffic attribution
- Search Ads and Category Ads installs now get credited correctly when the page-view pixel is missing or stale. Previously these slipped to "Direct" or got mis-attributed to whatever channel the user happened to land on next.
- Date-picker ranges include the full end day. Last day's data is no longer silently cut off at midnight.
Shopify Developer Changelog, in-app
Browse Shopify's developer changelog from inside Ranksy — no more tab-hopping to keep up with platform changes.
Smarter metric cards
- Every dashboard metric now shows the prior-period value alongside the change, so the percentage isn't floating in space.
- Arrow color is decoupled from direction — a falling churn rate reads green, not red.
Fixes & polish
- Active Merchants no longer shows a phantom "+N" outside of compare mode.
- Free-plan charges no longer inherit app-level trial-day defaults that were inflating trial counts.
- Traffic Trends chart focuses on pageviews; sessions/installs/unique-users moved out for clarity.
- Wider tables no longer break the dashboard layout on smaller screens.
- Tooltip labels, compare-line styling, and metric rounding tightened across all charts.
April 27: Smarter Churn + Compare Periods Everywhere
Smarter Churn Analysis
We rebuilt the churn page from the ground up. A new cancellation classifier analyzes every cancellation event, so your churn rate reflects what actually happened — not just shops that were already billing before the period.
- Cohort-correct churn rate that separates trial expirations, downgrades, and full uninstalls
- Revenue churn rate displayed alongside customer churn, with overlay on the rolling chart
- Row-by-row audit ledger so you can see exactly which subscriptions changed status
- Both customer and revenue churn cards now react to the selected date range
Compare Periods, Everywhere
Compare-period overlays now work across every trend chart — Traffic, Search, Category, Trials, LTV, NRR, Subscriptions, Earnings, Customer Breakdown, and all seven Partner Metrics charts. Toggle compare on any chart to see how the current period stacks up against the previous one.
- Compare lines are visually distinct from primary lines
- Tooltips label periods clearly so you always know which date range you're looking at
- The comparison window slides automatically when you change the main date range
Subscription Velocity, Reimagined
The Subscription Velocity card now shows new and lost subscriptions as a diverging stack around zero — positives reach up, negatives reach down — with a 7-day trailing moving-average trendline overlay.
- Net delta summary in the card header at a glance
- Cleaner column layout with positives and negatives sharing a single column
- The trendline cuts through daily noise so you can spot real momentum shifts
Metric Cards That Tell the Full Story
Dashboard metric cards now show the previous value next to every delta — "vs X previously" — so context lives right beside the number.
- Arrow direction decoupled from color, so cards can signal "good" or "bad" independently of up/down
- Defaulted previous values rounded cleanly to one decimal
- Direction signal preserved for cards that calculate their own percentages
Shopify Changelog at Your Fingertips
Ranksy now ingests the official Shopify dev changelog directly, so you can track platform changes without leaving the app.
Improvements
- Chart legend now toggles app update and review annotations on click
- Traffic Trends focuses on pageviews — no more cluttered sessions and installs lines
- Traffic Funnel attribution now matches via shop URL for more accurate counts
- Tightened layout so wide content can no longer break the sidebar
Bug Fixes
- Fixed comparison delta on the partner metrics overview when the compare toggle was off
- Fixed Active Merchants showing a mismatched description
- Fixed Customer + Revenue Churn Rate cards not reacting to date range changes
- Removed the "+N" suffix from cards where it didn't apply
April 22: Review Sentiment + Instant Rank History
Review Sentiment Analysis
See what customers actually feel about every app in the Shopify App Store. Run the analysis on any app to get a sentiment breakdown, per-review labels, and recurring themes — all in one place.
- One-click analysis with live progress
- Per-review badges: positive, negative, mixed, neutral
- Aggregated sentiment distribution and key insights
- Works on your own apps and any competitor
Sharper Trial Analytics
Cohort numbers now tell the full story.
- Cohort drilldown — click any cell to see the trial customers behind the number
- More accurate detection of mid-trial cancellations
- Precise trial end times (no more 24-hour rounding)
- First-time-trial filter ignores fumbled installs that were cancelled within an hour
Performance
- Rank history is instant. Opening the history chart for a keyword now takes under 200 ms — it used to take 8+ seconds.
- No more blank keyword pages. Fixed a stale-cache issue that occasionally left
/keywords/*pages empty despite having data. - Smoother deploys. The app auto-reloads stale page chunks after a deploy so you never hit a broken import.
- Resilient background workers. Brief Redis hiccups no longer knock background processing offline.
Bug Fixes
- Keyword history modal now shows the rank that matches the table (was occasionally off by one)
- Trial conversion events correctly exclude free-plan and cancelled priors
- Backfill correctly derives trial days when the stored value is null
- Stuck Partner API syncs now self-recover on the next scheduled run
April 19: Catch the Copycats
Catch the Copycats
Other apps are quietly cloning your listing. Now you'll know — automatically.
Every app you track gets a new Copycats tab that surfaces apps copying your listing: near-verbatim text, name-drops in their descriptions, and content drifting suspiciously close to yours. We score every signal, rank the worst offenders, and send a daily digest when something new lands.
- Smoking-gun evidence — see the exact phrases lifted from your listing
- Per-field similarity scores — title, subtitle, descriptions, and benefits scored separately
- Activity feed — track every change a copycat makes over time
- Daily digest email — find out the moment a new copycat appears
- Market-wide view — browse copycats across every app you track from a single page
Smarter Customer Insights
Know exactly where every install came from.
- Source attribution on each customer's detail page — see the channel that brought them in
- Source column and filter chips on the customer list — slice your install base by acquisition channel
- CSV export — pull your full customer list with attribution intact
Ads: Find the Wasters
- New Wasters tab in the Ads report — pinpoint keywords burning budget without earning it back
- Redesigned Geography tab — cleaner breakdown of where your ad spend actually converts
Performance & Reliability
- Heavy dashboard widgets now load lazily for a noticeably faster first paint
- BigQuery sync workflows auto-recover when they get stuck instead of stalling indefinitely
Bug Fixes
- First-time trial counts now include shops that abandoned plan selection
- Trial metrics across analytics use a single, consistent first-time-trial filter
- Date-range filters no longer mutate Carbon inputs across repeated queries
- Keyword analytics handles empty search input gracefully
April 13: Public API and New Analytics
Ranksy REST API
Build on top of Ranksy. The new public REST API gives you programmatic access to your app's listings, analytics, and rankings — backed by full OpenAPI specs and interactive docs at api.ranksyapp.com.
- Create and manage personal access tokens from Settings → API Tokens
- Pull app info, listings, competitors, and category data
- Query analytics: installs, traffic sources, keyword attribution, and more
- Fetch historical and live rankings across keywords and categories
- Standardized date ranges with a 7-day maximum per request
New Analytics
Seven new reports join the dashboard, each with its own page and API endpoint:
- Earnings — gross and net revenue over time
- Customers — active customer counts and trends
- Lifetime Value — average LTV across your customer base
- Net Revenue Retention — expansion, contraction, and churn in one view
- Trials — trial starts, conversions, and cancellations
- Search Rankings — daily keyword position trends
- Category Rankings — where you sit in every category you appear in
Improvements
- Chart tooltips now use human-readable labels, and gridlines are back on every chart
- Dashboard widgets handle missing data gracefully instead of breaking
- Faster category rankings thanks to eliminated N+1 queries
- More resilient syncs when upstream connections hiccup
Bug Fixes
- Trial tracking is more accurate: mid-trial plan upgrades no longer count as new trials, trial conversions can't follow cancellations, and missed trial starts are now detected
- App search no longer errors on empty queries
- Fixed a chart card border clipping issue on the dashboard
April 5: Fresh New Look & Customizable Dashboard
A Fresh New Look
Ranksy got a visual refresh. Every page now features a warm olive-tinted palette, the clean Geist typeface, and updated cards and components throughout the app. Charts use a cohesive green color scheme that ties everything together.
The result: a modern, polished interface that's easier on the eyes during long analysis sessions.
Build Your Own Dashboard
Your dashboard, your way. The new page builder lets you add, remove, and rearrange widgets to match how you work.
- Metric cards — pin the numbers you check first
- Charts — merchants, revenue, traffic, rankings, and more
- Data tables — reviews, keyword movements, competitor alerts
- Templates — start from a preset layout and customize from there
Hit "Customize" on your dashboard to get started.
Smarter Analytics for Your Billing Model
Ranksy now detects whether your app uses subscriptions, usage-based pricing, or one-time purchases — then adjusts what you see.
- Subscription apps get MRR trends, churn analysis, and plan distribution
- Usage-based apps see usage revenue and merchant activity
- Trial detection improved so your funnel metrics are accurate
- Sidebar navigation only shows what's relevant to your model
No more wading through metrics that don't apply to your app.
Rock-Solid Data Sync
The Partner API sync pipeline was rebuilt from the ground up for reliability.
- Watch sync progress live on the Partner Metrics page
- Stuck syncs recover automatically — no more manual intervention
- BigQuery integrations now run through the same durable pipeline
Faster Page Loads
Upgraded to the latest page rendering framework for snappier navigation between pages. You'll notice the difference on data-heavy analytics views.
Security Updates
- Patched 3 security vulnerabilities in API client libraries
- Pinned dependencies to prevent supply chain issues
- Added data guards across all dashboard chart components

- Campaign management with keyword grouping and trend analysis
- Drag-and-drop multi-file upload with real-time progress tracking

Stop guessing whether your ads are profitable. Ranksy now connects ad spend to actual revenue through your BigQuery data.
- True ROAS calculation using ad-attributed revenue, not total Partner API revenue
- Bid recommendations based on keyword performance and install attribution
- Negative keyword suggestions to cut wasted ad spend on terms that don't convert
AI Ad Reports
Get an AI-generated deep dive into your ad performance — no spreadsheets required.
- Ads Deep Dive agent gathers data across keywords, campaigns, and competitors, then writes a detailed analysis
- Report history so you can track how recommendations evolve
- Download as Markdown for sharing with your team
Keyword Discovery
Ranksy now surfaces new keyword opportunities from your ad data.
- Aggregate keyword discovery across all uploaded reports with tiered relevance thresholds
- Keywords found in ads but not yet tracked are flagged as opportunities
Redesigned Onboarding
A new 3-step wizard walks you through connecting your data sources — Partner API, BigQuery, and app selection — with clear progress indicators and a real-time data pipeline status.
GA4 Report Enhancements
BigQuery-connected users get richer traffic reports: sessions, source/medium breakdown, country-level data, landing page performance, and keyword conversion rates.
Improvements
- Server-side keyword table with search, sort, and pagination for faster browsing
- BigQuery credential validation now unified across onboarding and settings
- Upgrade prompt with direct link when you hit the follow limit
- Keyword gaps page loads faster with SQL-powered scoring and pagination
Under the Hood
- Finite state machines for Partner API and BigQuery sync pipelines
- Resolved N+1 queries in partner data processing
- Fixed ROAS double-counting from overlapping campaign dates
- Daily pruning of completed job batches
March 22: Dashboard Redesign & Smarter Emails
Dashboard Redesign
We've rebuilt the dashboard to surface what actually matters. The new layout cuts through the noise and puts your most important signals front and centre — with drilldown links so you can go from a high-level number directly to the data behind it.
- Cleaner hero metrics with better visual hierarchy
- Every key metric links directly to the detailed view
- Faster load times thanks to precomputed daily snapshots
Digest Emails Now Arrive at 9 AM Your Time
No more getting your weekly digest at 3 AM. Ranksy now automatically detects your timezone and delivers digest emails at 9 AM local time — so insights land when you're ready to act on them.
Settings Page Overhaul
The App Settings page has a new tabbed sidebar layout, making it much easier to navigate your configuration without losing your place.
MCP Improvements
Several improvements to the Ranksy MCP server based on customer feedback:
- App Store ranking tools are now accessible without requiring app ownership
- MCP access is now gated behind an active subscription
- Improved data accuracy across partner tools
- Fixed schema compatibility issues
Bug Fixes
- Fixed billing checkout failing with a network error
- Fixed traffic analytics showing a blank page in some configurations
- Fixed listing improvements getting stuck on "processing"
- Fixed review notifications not triggering correctly
- Fixed churn rate calculation using the wrong denominator
- Fixed MRR widget not respecting the selected date range
- Fixed Google Analytics integration failing silently when OAuth scopes are insufficient
March 13: Attribution Drilldown & AI Listing Agents
Attribution Channel Drilldown
You can now drill into any traffic channel to see exactly which keywords, categories, and sources within that channel drive installs and revenue. Click any channel in your attribution table to get the full breakdown — no more guessing which search terms or referral sources actually convert.
We also rebuilt the attribution pipeline from the ground up: cohort-based conversion tracking prevents inflated rates, MRR attribution is tied to actual trial conversions, and keyword data now captures installs from Shopify Admin and autocomplete sources that were previously invisible.
AI Listing Improvements — Per-Field Agents
Listing improvements now run dedicated AI agents for each field — Name, Subtitle, Introduction, Details, and Features are each analyzed and optimized independently. You'll see real-time progress as each field completes, and the system handles retries and failures per field instead of restarting the entire generation.
MCP Analytics: Organic vs. Sponsored Insights
Five new MCP tools give your AI assistant deeper visibility into how organic and sponsored rankings interact:
- Keyword Installs by Source — See exactly how many installs come from organic vs. sponsored results per keyword
- Cannibalization Report — Identify keywords where you're paying for ads but already rank organically
- Ad Keyword Performance — Compare conversion rates between organic and sponsored placements
- Traffic Source Trends — Track weekly shifts across your traffic channels
- Keyword Daily Trends — Daily ranking and traffic data with organic/sponsored split
Existing tools also got smarter: keyword rankings now show organic and sponsored positions side by side, and traffic keywords support weekly breakdowns.
Dashboard Conversion Funnel
Your dashboard now includes a conversion funnel showing the path from page views through installs to paying merchants — a quick pulse check without leaving the overview.
Improvements
- Traffic sources table columns are now sortable — click any header to reorder
- Subscription metrics correctly exclude free plans from paid calculations
- Churn rate denominator now counts all active merchants for accurate rates
- Ranking analysis processes apps individually to handle large datasets without memory issues
Data Quality
- Duplicate BigQuery events from intraday table overlaps are now prevented at import time
- Added a cleanup command for any existing duplicates
- Trial conversion metrics use a single source of truth across all pages
March 9th: Consistent Metrics & Sparkline Improvements
Consistent Metrics Across Pages
Metric badges (MRR, installs, etc.) now show identical % change values whether you view them on your Dashboard or the Partner Metrics page. Previously, a subtle date range mismatch could produce slightly different numbers on each page — now both pages use the exact same calculation.
Improved Sparklines
Sparkline charts now use area fill for a cleaner, more polished look that makes trends easier to read at a glance.
Unified Date Picker
The date picker has been standardized across all analytics pages, giving you a consistent experience no matter where you are in Ranksy.
Bug Fixes
- Active Merchants now correctly shows its % change badge
- Fixed trial cancellations being misclassified as churned in certain edge cases
- Backfilled historically misclassified trial cancellations for accurate churn data
March 7th: GA4 Dashboard & Data Accuracy
GA4 Analytics Dashboard
You can now see your Google Analytics traffic data directly in Ranksy. The new GA4 Analytics page shows page views, sessions, unique visitors, and conversion trends — all pulled from your connected BigQuery dataset.
- Traffic overview with time series — daily page views, sessions, and visitors charted over your selected date range
- Separate GA4 connection — GA4 OAuth is now decoupled from BigQuery, so you can connect your analytics without needing a service account
Unified Metric Cards with Period Comparisons
Every metric card across the app now shows period-over-period % change — so you can instantly see if MRR, active merchants, installs, and churn are trending up or down compared to the previous period.
- Consistent design — All pages now use the same metric card component with subtle sparkline backgrounds and comparison pills
- Date-aware metrics — Active merchants and MRR on the dashboard now respect your selected date range instead of always showing current values
Data Accuracy Improvements
We fixed several issues that caused metrics to drift from what you see in the Shopify Partner Dashboard.
- Active merchants now match Shopify — Fixed filters that were over- or under-counting active installs
- Trial detection fixed — Annual plan renewals are no longer falsely marked as trials
- Lifecycle events cleaned up — Abandoned checkouts and $0 plan switches no longer generate false churn events
- MRR calculations — Fixed an edge case where GROUP BY errors could produce incorrect MRR totals
Performance
Multiple pages that were slow to load are now significantly faster.
- Churn analytics, categories, trial conversion, and search results — Eliminated redundant database queries that scaled with the number of results
- Competitor page — Resolved a timeout on the ads tab by scoping ranking lookups to relevant keywords and categories
MCP Tool Reliability
If you use Ranksy with Claude or another AI assistant, the tools are now more reliable.
- Fixed 4 broken tools and removed one that wasn't working well
- Installs-by-category and installs-by-keyword now return accurate data
- Competitor matching produces more relevant results
- Better error handling for transient backend errors
Under the Hood
We completed a major internal restructuring of how Ranksy queries your Partner API data. All database queries are now centralized through a consistent repository layer, which eliminates several classes of data inconsistency bugs and makes it easier to ship accurate features faster.
March 3rd: Accurate Conversion Funnel & MCP Reliability
Conversion Funnel Rebuilt from the Ground Up
The conversion funnel now tracks your installs as a proper cohort — showing exactly how many of your recent installs started a trial, converted to paid, or cancelled. Active trials are excluded from conversion rates so you get an honest picture of your funnel performance.
- Cohort-based tracking: Follow installs through trial → paid within a configurable conversion window
- Accurate trial detection: Annual plan renewals are no longer falsely counted as trials
- Traffic source breakdown: See which sources (search, ads, direct) drive the best conversions
- Live trial count: See how many merchants are currently on trial across all your installations
Smarter Subscription Linking
When merchants upgrade plans, Shopify cancels the old subscription and creates a new one simultaneously. Previously, installations could get linked to the cancelled subscription — showing $0 MRR for paying customers. The sync engine now always picks the active subscription, and a new repair command lets you fix any historical data.
MCP Tools: More Reliable, More Accurate
- 4 broken tools fixed — installs-by-category, installs-by-keyword, competitor analysis, and review sentiment tools are all working again
- Competitor matching rewritten for better relevance when finding similar apps
- Faster competitor queries with optimized database lookups
- Subscription and installation data now returns correct values across all tools
March 1st: Customers Page Redesign & Developer Filters
Customers Page Redesign
We've completely overhauled the Customers pages for a cleaner, faster experience.
- Simplified table — The customer list now shows the most important columns (Customer, Plan, MRR, Status, Installed) without overflowing the page. No more horizontal scrolling.
- Smarter defaults — The page now defaults to showing Installed stores, so you see active customers first.
- Redesigned customer detail — The customer profile page now focuses on data that matters: health score, key dates, timeline, and transactions — without the clutter of empty fields.
- Health score is now visible — Each customer's health score is displayed with color-coded indicators, so you can spot at-risk merchants at a glance.
Developer Filters
Two new filters on the Developers listing page make it easier to find the right developers:
- Country filter — Filter developers by their country of origin
- Number of apps filter — Find developers by how many apps they've published
Improvements
- Navigation sidebar groups are now collapsed by default for a tidier workspace — they still auto-expand when you navigate to a page within them
- "Clear All" filters on the customers page now resets to showing installed stores instead of showing everything
February 26th: Partners Directory & Developer Filters
Shopify Partners Directory
A brand new Partners Directory gives you access to Shopify agencies, freelancers, and service providers — all searchable and filterable. Whether you're looking for integration partners, marketing help, or want to understand who's building in your space, it's all here.
- Browse and search partners by name, service type, and industry
- Filter by country to find local agencies or global players
- Export results to CSV for outreach or analysis (with monthly limits by plan)
Developer Page Gets Powerful Filters
The developers listing page now gives you much more control over what you see. Narrow down the 10,000+ developers with precision.
- Country filter — Focus on developers in specific markets
- Number of apps filter — Set min/max thresholds to find developers by portfolio size (e.g., studios with 5-20 apps)
Follow Similar Apps in One Click
When browsing similar apps on any app profile, you can now follow them directly from the card — no need to visit each app's page first. Build your competitive watchlist faster.
Smoother Integration Setup
Connecting your Partner API and BigQuery accounts is now faster. Instead of navigating to separate screens, you'll see inline connection forms right where you need them — fewer clicks to get your data flowing.
Bug Fixes
- Keyword rankings no longer show duplicate or stale results after filtering
- Fixed a display crash when apps had no rating data
- Removed 32 invalid categories that were polluting browse results
- Discovery pages now load consistently (fixed intermittent timeouts)
- Developer listing page loads faster with optimized queries
February 23rd: Auth Alerts & Email Testing
Stay Ahead of Integration Issues
Your data connections are the backbone of Ranksy's revenue attribution. Now, when authentication fails on your connected integrations, team admins get an immediate email alert — so you can fix the issue before it creates gaps in your data.
- Admins receive a clear email explaining which integration needs re-authentication
- Active data syncs are automatically paused to prevent errors from cascading
- Failed syncs resume automatically once the connection is restored
No more discovering days later that your revenue data stopped flowing.
Under the Hood
- Improved error handling for temporary server outages on third-party APIs
- Fixed an issue where app sync could reference incorrect data models
February 18th: Performance Blitz
Across-the-Board Speed Improvements
We went deep on performance this week. Every page in Ranksy is faster — some dramatically so.
- Dashboard loads instantly — We cut unnecessary database queries, so your dashboard now renders with noticeably less waiting

- Keyword suggestions generate 10x faster — What used to take 10 seconds now completes in under 1
- Ranking impact analysis drops from minutes to seconds — Complex ranking calculations that took nearly 5 minutes now finish in 10–30 seconds

February Week 3: Competitive Scorecard & Dashboard Redesign
Competitive Scorecard
Know exactly where you stand against the competition — scored out of 100. The new Competitive Scorecard measures your app across four dimensions: Listing Quality, Keyword Performance, Reviews & Reputation, and Visibility. Each dimension breaks down into detailed sub-scores with specific, prioritized actions you can take to improve.
- Dimension-level scoring with rich metric explanations
- Head-to-head comparison against each competitor
- Expandable improvement actions linked directly to relevant pages
Redesigned Dashboard
Your dashboard now puts every key metric on a single page — no more switching between tabs. The new adaptive layout adjusts to your connected data sources, so you always see the most relevant numbers at a glance.
App Updates Timeline
App updates and similar apps now live on their own dedicated pages, giving each the space they deserve. The updates timeline now shows before and after values for every change — so you can see exactly what a competitor changed in their listing, not just that something changed.
Improvements
- Smarter traffic classification — More precise traffic source detection means fewer "unknown" sources and better attribution accuracy. Direct App Store visits, stories pages, and referral sources are now classified correctly.
- Faster review syncing — Reviews now sync concurrently, cutting full-sync time significantly.
- Better keyword generation resilience — AI-powered keyword suggestions now retry gracefully instead of failing on temporary issues.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed keyword gap analysis pulling from the wrong data source
- Fixed notification processing tracking at the wrong granularity
- Fixed category chart showing blended rankings instead of organic-only
- Fixed several pages loading more data than needed, improving speed across the board

Customer Lifetime Value
See exactly how much each customer is worth over time with the new Customer LTV page. Track average lifetime value, identify your most valuable segments, and understand the true ROI of your acquisition efforts.
Revenue & Churn by Plan
Every key metric now breaks down by plan, giving you a clear picture of which plans drive your business:
- Earnings — revenue breakdown by plan shows where your money comes from
- Churn analytics — understand which plans have the highest churn rates
- Customer breakdown — analyze customers by plan with lifetime metrics
- Exclude plans filter — filter out specific plans to focus your analysis
Churned Customers Table

- Keyword scraping now focuses on keywords that actually drive installs — saving resources and improving relevance
- Attribution data is now more accurate with fixes for paying customer counts and revenue calculations
- Faster keyword pages and listing improvement generation

- Fixed trial conversion and cancellation events not being tracked correctly
Net Revenue Retention & Cleaner Data
Net Revenue Retention (NRR)
A new analytics page that answers the question every app developer should be tracking: is your existing revenue growing or shrinking? See your NRR percentage over time, broken down by daily conversions, upgrades, downgrades, and churns — with a full event timeline so you can trace exactly what happened and when.
Plan Distribution Chart
The Subscriptions page now includes a customers-per-plan breakdown showing how your subscribers are distributed across plans, along with MRR contribution for each. Spot your most popular plan at a glance and identify upgrade opportunities.
Improvements
- Connected apps now respect your plan limits, so your account stays within its allocated app slots
Bug Fixes
- Test store activity no longer skews your analytics — development stores are now fully excluded from all calculations
- Merchants switching plans no longer show up as churned — old subscription expirations are correctly ignored when a newer subscription is active
- Fixed duplicate entries appearing in the subscription customers table
Smarter Notifications for Every App

Managing multiple Shopify apps? Your ranking and competitor emails are now organized by app. Instead of one cluttered email with everything mixed together, you get a focused report for each app — so you always know where to look.
Review Alerts
Get notified the moment your apps receive new reviews. Stay on top of customer feedback without manually checking the App Store.
Daily Digest Emails
Two new daily digests keep you informed without the noise:

Improvements
- All notification emails have been redesigned with cleaner layouts and consistent branding
- Competitor updates now show the app icon so you can spot changes at a glance
- Noisy updates like logo and image swaps are automatically filtered out
- Data and charts populate faster after connecting a new app
Bug Fixes
- Fixed competitor updates falling behind during busy periods
Granular Team Permissions
Granular Team Permissions
Team owners can now control exactly what each team member can access. Instead of broad roles, you can assign specific permissions to individual users - whether that's viewing analytics, managing integrations, or accessing AI features.
- Per-user permission assignment - Fine-tune access for each team member
- Protected pages - Dashboard tabs, app management, and integrations respect permissions
- Navigation updates - Users only see what they can access
Historical Data Now Shows in Charts

Now when your initial sync completes, all your historical data shows up correctly in charts and reports.

Redesigned App Store Dashboard & Streamlined Onboarding
Redesigned App Store Dashboard

- Keywords in Top 10 — your best proxy for app store visibility, with 7-day change tracking
- Best Category Rank — see your highest category position at a glance
- App Rating — star rating and review count front and center
- Keyword Movement — net daily keyword changes with improved/dropped breakdown
Below the KPIs, the Keyword Ranking Distribution chart shows exactly where your keywords fall across ranking tiers (Top 1–4, 5–10, 11–24, 25–48, and 48+). Every card includes a tooltip explaining what you're looking at.
Tabbed Dashboard with Smarter Data Loading
The dashboard now loads only the data for the tab you're viewing — App Store, Business, or Marketing. This means faster page loads since you're not waiting for all three tabs worth of queries at once.
Setup Guides on Every Tab
The setup checklist now appears on all dashboard tabs, not just App Store. Whether you land on Business or Marketing first, you'll see the guide to connect your Partner API and BigQuery integrations.
Streamlined Onboarding
The onboarding flow has been simplified — fewer steps to get you from signup to your first insights.
