1. Introduction

Ranksy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Ranksy platform (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

• Account Information: Your name, email address, and authentication tokens provided during sign-up or third-party OAuth connections.
• Usage Data: Analytics about how you interact with the Service, such as page visits, features used, and other diagnostic data.
• Third-Party Data: Data fetched from Google Analytics, Google BigQuery, and the Shopify Partners API after you grant explicit authorization.
• Cookies & Similar Technologies: We use first-party cookies to maintain your session and analyze aggregate usage patterns.

3. How We Use Information

We process collected information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
• Generate analytics, insights, and recommendations for your Shopify apps;
• Improve and personalize the Service;
• Communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support;
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraudulent activity.

4. Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance

Ranksy's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

• We only request the minimal scopes necessary to provide our core functionality (analytics and reporting).
• We do not sell or share Google user data with third parties, except as required to operate or improve the Service or as required by law.
• Access to Google data is read-only; we never alter or delete your Google Analytics or BigQuery data.

5. Shopify Partners API Data

When you connect your Shopify Partner account, we retrieve app events, transactional, and usage metrics via the Shopify Partners API. This information is used solely to calculate financial metrics and performance analytics shown within the Service. We do not disclose or sell this data to third parties.

6. Browser Extension

The Ranksy Browser Extension for Chrome and Firefox provides analytics data directly on Shopify App Store pages. This section explains how the extension handles your data.

6.1 Data Collection

• Sidebar Preferences: We use the browser's local storage to remember your sidebar state (open or collapsed). This preference is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
• App Page Context: When you visit a Shopify App Store listing, the extension reads the app's URL slug to fetch relevant analytics from our API. We do not track or store your browsing history.
• Account Authentication (Optional): If you choose to connect your Ranksy account, authentication tokens are securely stored in your browser to enable personalized features. Your credentials are never stored by the extension.

6.2 Permissions

• apps.shopify.com: Required to display the analytics sidebar on Shopify App Store pages.
• ranksyapp.com: Required to fetch analytics data from our API.
• Storage: Required to save your sidebar preferences locally.

6.3 What We Don't Collect

The Ranksy Browser Extension does not:

• Track your browsing history or activity outside of Shopify App Store pages;
• Collect personal information unless you explicitly connect your Ranksy account;
• Load or execute remote code — all functionality is bundled within the extension;
• Share any data with third parties.

7. Landing Pages We Host for App Developers

Ranksy hosts ad landing pages at ranksyapp.com/lp for Shopify app developers who use Ranksy. This section explains how we handle your data when you visit one of these pages, for example after clicking an ad.

7.1 Data Collection

When you visit one of these landing pages, Ranksy and the app developer collect:

• Device Information: Your IP address and your browser's user agent.
• Ad Click Identifiers: Identifiers from the ad you clicked, such as Meta's fbclid and Reddit's rdt_cid.
• Campaign Parameters: The UTM parameters in the link you followed, which identify the ad campaign.
• Cookies: The _fbp and _fbc cookies used by the Meta Pixel and the _rdt_uuid cookie used by the Reddit Pixel.
• Page Activity: Page-view and button-click events on the landing page.

This data is collected using the Meta Pixel, the Reddit Pixel, and Google Analytics. The Meta Pixel and the Reddit Pixel send the data they collect to Meta and Reddit, and Google Analytics sends page-view and button-click events to Google.

7.2 How We Use This Data

This data is used to measure the performance of the app developer's ads and to attribute app installs to those ads. Ranksy processes this data on behalf of the app developer, whose own privacy policy is linked on the landing page when the developer provides one. We retain this data as described in Section 9 (Data Retention).

Meta and Reddit use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect or receive information from these landing pages and from elsewhere on the internet. They use that information to provide measurement services and to target and deliver ads, including the app developer's ads. Their use of this information is governed by the Meta Privacy Policy and the Reddit Privacy Policy. We use Google Analytics only to understand how the landing pages are used.

7.3 Your Choices

• Ad Targeting: You can opt out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting at www.aboutads.info/choices and www.youronlinechoices.eu, and in your Meta ad preferences and Reddit privacy settings.
• Google Analytics: You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Global Privacy Control: If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we honor it for the Reddit Pixel.
• Cookies: You can block cookies, including the cookies listed above, in your browser settings.

8. Sharing of Information

We do not share your personal information except in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: Trusted vendors that handle parts of the Service for us, such as cloud hosting, customer support, and email delivery. These vendors are bound by contract to protect your data. We use Customer.io to send our emails, including the weekly App Store Index, and we give them your email address only to deliver those messages.
• Advertising Platforms: On the landing pages we host for app developers, the Meta Pixel and the Reddit Pixel send the data described in Section 7 to Meta and Reddit so the app developer can measure their ads. Meta and Reddit may also use it to target and deliver ads, as described in Section 7.2.
• Legal Requirements: If required to comply with a legal obligation or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ranksy, our users, or the public.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. You may request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

10. Security

We employ industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), least-privilege access controls, and continuous system monitoring. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Choices & Rights

• Access & Update: You may review or update your account information at any time from your account settings.
• Revoke Access: You can revoke our access to your Google account via your Google security settings, and to Shopify via the Partner Dashboard.
• Marketing Emails: You can opt-out of marketing communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages.

12. International Data Transfers

Ranksy is headquartered in the Netherlands, and your information may be processed and stored in servers located within the European Union or other jurisdictions. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for cross-border data transfers as required by applicable law.

13. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can delete the information.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
