Shopify App Store ads

Shopify App Store ads, measured in merchants who pay.

Ranksy pulls your App Store ad campaigns from Shopify Partners and joins them with Partner API revenue and your organic keyword ranks. You see which keywords bring paying merchants, which ones buy installs you would get for free, and what to change next.

How it works

From the Partners dashboard to a ranked list of fixes.

Setup takes three steps. Ranksy reads your ads data and never edits a campaign.

  1. 01

    Bring in your ads data

Run ranksy ads connect once to map each Shopify app to a Ranksy app, then schedule ranksy ads sync. It copies campaigns, keywords, daily metrics, search terms and the country, plan and device splits. You can also upload the search terms CSV from your Partners ad dashboard.

  2. 02

    Connect revenue and ranks

The Partner API connection adds paying customers, revenue and ROAS. BigQuery adds your listing's GA4 installs and your organic ranks for the Organic vs Paid view.

  3. 03

Set a target CPI and work the list

Tell Ranksy the most you want to pay per install. The optimizer ranks every change against it, and you make the changes in the Shopify Partners dashboard.

Ads funnel

Find the step where each campaign loses money.

Ranksy follows every campaign from impression to click, install and paying customer, with the rate and the cost of each step: CPC, CPI and cost per paying customer. Funnel by campaign names each campaign's biggest leak: people see the ad and don't click, clicks don't install, or installs don't pay.

  • KPI cards with sparklines and a comparison period
  • Chart markers for ad changes, listing edits and new reviews
  • Budget pacing and a drill-down page for every campaign

Organic vs paid

See which keywords you pay for twice.

Organic vs Paid puts every keyword you bid on next to your organic rank and labels it essential, additive, cannibalized or irrelevant. When you rank #1 or #2 and ads bring under half of the installs, you are likely paying for clicks you would get anyway. True ROAS divides Partner API net revenue from shops that came through an ad by what you spent.

  • A verdict for every keyword you bid on
  • True ROAS and cost per paying customer
  • Uses your listing's GA4 data through BigQuery

Ads Optimizer

Every fix, ranked by what it saves you each month.

Set a target cost per install and the optimizer checks every keyword, search term, country, shop plan, device and budget against it. It suggests keywords and negatives to add, bids to raise or lower, segments to exclude and budgets to change, biggest monthly impact first. Each suggestion shows the numbers behind it and a confidence level.

  • Potential monthly savings, with overlapping advice counted once
  • Shopify's own recommendations included, with a badge
  • Tick suggestions into a plan and download it as CSV

Restructure and AI strategist

A better campaign layout, with the migration steps written out.

The restructure planner looks for missing exact-match layers, heavy broad-match spend, the same keyword in several campaigns, keywords blocked by their own negatives, and category or homepage ads that cost far more than search. It proposes campaigns grouped by performance, with budgets that add up to today's spend. The AI campaign strategist then reviews the plan against your listing and competitors and writes a strategy with keyword ideas, risks and a day-7 and day-14 checklist.

  • Estimated CPI before and after the change
  • The plan pauses nothing until its replacement is live
  • Copy the migration plan or download it as CSV

Where am I wasting ad spend this month?

get-ads-wasters { app_slug: "stockwise" }

  • "inventory app free"Dead spend$62
  • "stock sync"Cannibalizing organic$47
  • "barcode inventory"Overpriced installs$38
  • "free stock tracker"Click, no install$33

$180 of your $1,230 went to four keywords. Start with "inventory app free": $62 and no installs. Add it as an exact-match negative.

Questions

What people ask first.

How does Ranksy get my Shopify App Store ads data?

Two ways. The Ranksy CLI logs in to Shopify Partners and copies your campaigns, keywords, daily metrics, search terms and the country, plan and device breakdowns. Run ranksy ads sync from cron to keep it current. Or upload the search terms CSV files you export from the Partners ad dashboard. The daily chart, budget pacing and change history need the sync, because a CSV only holds totals for its report period.

Why does Ranksy's ROAS differ from Shopify's?

Shopify's ROAS uses last-click attribution from the ad click. Ranksy's True ROAS matches GA4 ad installs with Partner API payouts for those shops, so it only counts revenue from shops that came through an ad and then paid you.

Does Ranksy change my campaigns?

No. The optimizer, the restructure planner and the AI strategist only read your data, and you make the changes in the Shopify Partners dashboard. Targets you set, such as your target CPI, are saved in Ranksy only.

What do I need to connect?

Your ads data, through the CLI sync or a CSV upload. The Partner API connection for paying customers, revenue and ROAS. BigQuery with your listing's GA4 data for the Organic vs Paid view and the bid recommendations based on organic rank.

Can Claude or ChatGPT read my ads data?

Yes. The Ranksy MCP server has tools for the ads overview, keywords, search terms, trends, wasters, organic vs paid, audience, recommendations, the restructure plan and the AI strategy. Three tools write to Ranksy only: set your target CPI, mark advice done, and start a strategist run. Calls count toward your plan's MCP quota: 5,000 a month on Starter and 25,000 on Studio.

Which plans include App Store Ads?

Both. Starter ($39/month, 3 apps) and Studio ($89/month, 10 apps) include App Store Ads, the optimizer and the MCP ads tools. The AI strategist needs AI access, which a team owner turns on. The 7-day free trial needs no credit card.
