Tasks for Shopify app teams
Follow up with the right merchant on the right day.
Every follow-up in Ranksy is a task with an owner and a due date, and it can sit on the record of the merchant it's about. Your team adds them by hand. Rules add them when a charge fails or a trial is about to end. Claude or Cursor can add one from a chat.
No credit card. Add your app in 2 minutes.

How it works
Tasks find you, then you close them.
Tasks live next to the merchant records they're about, so the context is one click away when you sit down to follow up.
- 01
A task is created
Someone adds one on the Tasks page or a merchant's record, a note reminder comes due, a rule fires, or Claude, Cursor or your own script calls the API.
- 02
It gets an owner and a date
Each task has an assignee, a priority from low to highest and a due date. The assignee is notified in Ranksy as soon as it's theirs.
- 03
Ranksy reminds the owner
A reminder goes out in Ranksy and by email when the task is due, and a digest at 8am in each person's timezone lists everything overdue or due today.
- 04
You work it to done
Move it across the board or tick it off in the list. Every change is kept in the task's activity log.
List and board
See today's follow-ups, or the whole pipeline.
Some mornings you want a short list of what's due. Other days you want to see which merchants are still waiting on a reply. The list groups tasks into Overdue, Today, Upcoming, No date and Done. The board shows the same tasks as cards in columns your team can rename.
- List buckets follow each person's own timezone
- Board columns start as To do, In progress, Waiting on merchant and Done
- Filter by assignee (me, unassigned, anyone) and by app or all apps
- Done tasks stay visible for 7 days

Five ways in
Tasks arrive from wherever the work starts.
A follow-up starts in a support thread, on a call, in a rule or in a chat with Claude. Each of those can create the task directly, and Ranksy records where it came from, so nobody wonders why it's on their list.
- By hand on the Tasks page or a merchant's record
- From a note: add a reminder date and the note becomes a task
- From an automation rule, with a priority and due date set by the rule
- From Claude, Cursor or any MCP client, and from the REST API

Reminders
Nobody has to remember to check the board.
A task only helps if its owner sees it in time. The assignee hears about it when it's assigned and again when it's due, in Ranksy and by email. Every morning at 8am in their own timezone, each person gets one email with what's overdue and what's due today.
- In-app notice the moment a task is assigned to you
- Due reminder in Ranksy and by email
- One digest email a day, at 8am in your timezone
- No repeat reminders for tasks more than 48 hours overdue

Team roles
Everyone sees the follow-ups they're meant to.
Support, growth and finance all touch merchants, but not all of them should change rules or see every field. Invite teammates and start each one from a role, then assign tasks to whoever owns the relationship.

Add a task without leaving the chat.
Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients can list, create and update Ranksy tasks. Ask in plain words and the task lands on the board and on the merchant's record. See the MCP server

Questions
What people ask first.
Why not track follow-ups in a spreadsheet or HubSpot?
Because the follow-up is about a merchant whose plan, MRR and health already live in Ranksy. A task there opens next to that record, a rule can create it when a charge fails or a trial is ending, and the owner is reminded without anyone checking a sheet. A spreadsheet or a separate CRM needs someone to copy each merchant across first.
Where do tasks come from?
Five places: added by hand on the Tasks page or a merchant's record, a note with a reminder date, an automation rule, an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor, and the REST API. Each task records its source.
Who gets reminded, and when?
The assignee gets an in-app notice when a task is assigned, then a reminder in Ranksy and by email when it is due. Everyone also gets one digest email at 8am in their own timezone listing overdue tasks and tasks due today. Ranksy does not send due reminders for tasks more than 48 hours overdue.
Does every task need a merchant?
No. A task belongs to an app and can optionally be tied to one merchant. Tied tasks also appear on the Tasks tab of that merchant's record.
Can Claude or Cursor create and update tasks?
Yes. The Ranksy MCP server has tools to list, create and update tasks. A create call can set the merchant by store name or myshopify domain, the due date, priority, assignee and board column. Calls count toward your plan's MCP quota: 5,000 a month on Starter and 25,000 on Studio.
Which plans include tasks?
Both. Starter ($39/month, 3 apps) and Studio ($89/month, 10 apps) include tasks, the CRM and automations. Tasks run on your merchant records, so connect the Shopify Partner API first. The 7-day free trial needs no credit card.
Give every merchant follow-up an owner and a date.
Connect the Partner API, add your team, and turn on the rule templates you want. Tasks start arriving with the first failed charge or ending trial.
No credit card. Add your app in 2 minutes.
